Table Selection, How to make more money….

Today we will talk about another very important skill you will need to be a winning player, table and seat selection. If you go to a normal casino to play poker the floor man will probably just put you at the table with a seat open. You don’t get to choose who your playing against.

One of the best things that online poker offers is the ability to choose any table you want, and usually there’s a very good selection. When you are browsing through the different poker tables the poker site gives you a good amount of information about the table and its players. You need to know all this information needs and how to choose the best table.

One important thing you need to look at before you sit down is the average pot size. Alot of players will sit at the table that has the largest pot size but this isn’t always the best thing to do. If the average pot size is big that probably means that a lot of players are raising and/or calling to showdown. This mean that you might get raised out of a lot of pots and get beat on the turn of river with flush and straight draws. I recommend sitting at table that the average pot size is about 8-10 times the big bet. So if you were going to play a 3-6 game sit at a table that has a avg. pot size of 48-60 dollars.

The next piece of information you should really look at is the Percentage of player seeing the flop. The higher the percentage the looser the table. This is what a lot of player look for. Just remember that to beat a loose game you must play tight. So take my advise from the last class and use the starting hand strategy.

Another thing you might want to do before you sit down is to just take 10-20 minuets. And watch the table. Try to get a feel for how the game flows, watch for aggressive players and notice the tight players. Also remember that money always flows to the right so make sure the big stacks are to your right.

See you next time, Class dismissed!
